for Westminster Language Kindergarden: Our new outreach project

Yokohama Onnuri Christ Church is recruiting a long-term English speaking missionaries for the new outreach program starting in 2009.

The personnel are needed for directing and teaching English Language Kindergarden which will start on April 2009.

Five years ago, while he was still pastoring in Nagano prefecture, pastor Yamanaka received God's vision and calling to start a Christian elementary school for Christian kids.

Although the vision was clear and ambition always remained in his heart, opportunity did not come until year 2008. In July 2007, Yokohama Onnuri Christ Church outgrew the building capacity and had to move to a bigger facility.

The new place God provided for YOCC was beyond church member's expectation. The extra spaces now available at church is used for Kid's Sunday Sschool but pastor Yamanaka believes they are meant to be used for more.

The name of the school is "Westminster Language Kindergarden".
It is a English teaching language kindergarden for children between three to five years old. For this is a new attempt, we will only recruit 10 kids at the first semester. The normal class will hold from 9AM to 3PM, Monday to Friday. Other extra care will be available from 3PM to 5PM for extra charge.

Pastor Yamanaka and church commitee members believe that this will build many good new friendship between YOCC and the families of the students.

The missionary will be paid 10,0000 yen/month and will be asked to raise his or her own financial support for housing and other expenses. The term we ask to commit is at least one year. The missionary qualities we seek are...

1. The personnel must be a college graduate.
2. Must be emotionally stable at expected cultural adjustments.
3. Must know for sure about own salvation through Christ.
4. Must have a sincere compassion for the lost people.
5. Must know the basic steps to share the Gospel and have lead at least one other person to sinner's prayer before.
6. Must love Japanese and be willing to learn the language and culture.
6. Must respect some minimum rules at work as professional.
7. Must communicate with pastor Yamanaka weekly for keeping spiritual accountability.
8. Must agree with Hudson Taylor's three requirements for everey missionary candidates: "1. Patience 2. Patience 3. Patience."

The denomination background of YOCC is evangelical Presbyterian. Pastor Yamanaka is a graduate of Lancaster Bible College, PA and Alliance Theological Seminary, NY. YOCC strongly believes and actively practices various gifts of the Holy Spirit including speaking in tongue. Some people sometims call us "Charismatic Presbyterian." Whatever the category we may be fitting in, our heart is simply after Jesus Christ and hands and feets are ready to go win the souls of the losts.
